Craftcation Recap & Giveaway!

Craftcation Goodies!

Craftcation Goodies!

If you follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or follow my Instagram feed, you probably know that I was recently in Ventura, CA for Craftcation!

Craftcation is 4 days of craft immersion! There is a lovely balance of craft business lectures and actual crafts.

And the best part of the experience is to grow your craft community by connecting with makers that share an investment in growing their craft business and encouraging the pursuit of craftiness.
Obviously, it was a perfect fit.

I had the opportunity to take courses that untangled the treacherous waters of SEO and also got to make soap!
I learned about how you can combine your blog and your crafty endeavors to create an online presence that helps you build your community. And I had the very fine opportunity to cook with KCRW’s host of Good Food, Evan Kleiman.

It’s important to explore beyond your community and learn about other people on the same adventure as you! Craftcation is a great way to do that!
AND THE OCEAN, YOU GUYS! The whole event is right next to the beach and just sipping a margarita next to that view will set a person at ease no matter what.

I want to share some of the amazing swag that I managed to get my hands on!

From the image above, you can see I got some good stuff and I want to share it with you! Here’s a run down of what is in this Ninja swag bag:

  1. There are so many workshops I would have wanted to attend but the letterpress or crash course sewing ones stand out to me the most. I’m so glad you had such an amazing time at Craftcation, Becky.

  2. Jolea

I’d like to do some of the cooking workshops and I would LOVE to finally learn to crochet! (everyone says its soooo easy… I can’t do it.)

  3. I would like to focus on sewing–try to get the basics down.

  4. Lori Lynn Barker

So glad you had a great time. It is so wonderful to see the “craft” movement expand.

I always find my new craft du jour when surrounded by crafty people. The inspiration around others who make stuff is amazing.
The networking with others crafters would be great!

  6. Wasn’t there a class on making your own liquor or did I dream that up?! I would love to have learned that. But if we are talking about crafts/projects out of the blue that we would like to learn, I would love to learn how to embroider really well on crocheted work. That is something that bests me time and time again.

Also, how the hell were you able to focus with both a margarita in hand and a view of the ocean? That sounds like a learning disaster (in the best possible way) for me.

  7. I’d be so distracted by the sheer number of new options available (oooh, shiny!) but I’d want to learn knitting, making soap and body products, and jewelry-making.

  8. I really liked seeing the craft food tutorials. I see so many tutorials on pinterest, but I would love to see things done in person.

  9. I would learn how to use a sewing machine so I can make pretty dresses with the fabric and cut that I like. My mom tried to teach me as a kid but I was too distracted to remember anything.

Not sure if this is open to people outside of Denver.
I would like to learn to sew.

  11. Nathalie Renfroe

I would of loved to have taken the letter

Sorry.. Pressed post too early (excited I guess). Letterpress, photography, and honing my sewing skills a bit better would of been the classes I would of loved to have taken. Glad you had a great time!
