I try to keep these blog posts not so personal. I assume none of you came here to listen to me ramble. But Denver Craft Ninjas is such a deep part of who I am now – it’s hard not to call it mine sometimes and share how it effects me. And it effects me often and in ways that empower and motivate me to keep planning stuff to share with you.
I love you Ninjas.
So, I’ve had a dream – for a long time. A dream I shared with a few people, but mostly held so close to my heart for fear of someone trampling it. I’ve always wanted a space where Denver Craft Ninjas could grow. A place where people could come and share skills, make friends, and grow their abilities and networks. I even approached my trusted adviser/brilliant friend Ellen Daehnick from Helliemaes to help me work out numbers for a dream space. She gave me honest answers that made me face the reality of doing something bigger than what DCN has been doing for the past 4 years. It wasn’t feasible alone.
But recently, my friend Anne Fellini Davidson (of Colorado Bead Company fame) asked me if that crazy idea of starting my own craft space was something I’d be interested in doing in the coming months – with her.
I gotta say, what I know of Anne was enough to make me want to jump on board with her. She’s a smart, savvy business lady with tons of heart and years of marketing experience.
So, we started talking. Talking about ideas, dreams, worries – and then she said, “Let’s start looking for a space”. And I realized that sometimes you just have to put your dreams on the back burner. That doesn’t mean the heat on it gets turned off…it’s just a slow simmer that you keep going back to and stirring. When you come back to it, it’ll be just right and ready!
Share Denver is a collaboration between Anne and I. It’s a community craft/event space that we’re eager to share with you and all of the Denver community. With Anne’s jewelry making classes and Denver Craft Ninja workshops, we’ll be filling the calendar with all kinds of amazing projects for you to partake in. But, really, the best part of Share Denver is letting you take the lead. Skill sharing has been such a huge part of DCN and we want to keep that vibe going. Come teach what you know to like minded people that have a mutual interest in exchanging ideas, techniques, abilities.
And the best part is that no one goes away empty handed. Teachers get to share their skills and get paid! Class attendees leave with a new skill, a completed project in hand, and hopefully (best of all) new friends to keep the dialogue going!
Nestled on the sweetest street in Park Hill, we’re so excited to be a part of the neighborhood! We’re thrilled to have our neighbors Eis Gelato, Latke Love, and the Bike Depot surrounding us! All of them bring such great energy to the street!
So, here’s the thing…maybe you come visit us! We’re having a grand opening party on Saturday (August 10th) from 4-7 PM. We’ll have some cupcakes to share and we’ll be eager to show off our space! WE HAVE A BACKYARD! 2829 Fairfax St. Denver, CO 80207
Most importantly, come and be a part of the celebration of my dream being realized. It’s never the way you think it would be, but when it happens it’s huge. My heart is swelling and I’m dying to share all of it with you, Denver Craft Ninjas.
