Hybrids vs Irons – Which type of clubs are better for senior golfers?

I’m a senior golfer, and have been playing golf for more than forty years now. I’ve always stuck with regular golf club set, consisting of – woods, driver, irons, putter and wedges. But recently my friend had bought all-hybrid set made by Majek brand, and he is very happy with them.  He says that they’re much easier to hit and much lighter as well. Which is a big plus for aged man like myself. So out of curiosity, i decided to research the topic of using solely hybrid golf clubs, and use the findings to make my decision next time i’m hoping to buy club set.

So, are the hybrids better? Yes, kind of. That question doesn’t have black or white answer, because both hybrids and irons have their advantages. Hybrid clubs are usually easier to hit, compared to irons. And that effect is further multiplied when golfer hitting the ball is senior or beginner. But it also depends on the golfer and what kind of experience they have. Quality of your game with hybrid clubs will also depend on their quality. So make sure to do proper research and find recommendations on hybrid golf clubs for seniors. Maybe ask your friends, or check out tutorials like this one on GolfClubsGuru. You could even argue that most golfers in their physical prime, will do fine with their iron clubs and don’t need hybrids as substitutes. But for those with high handicap and little experience, hybrids will probably do the best job.

A lot of golfers see professionals use long irons, and they feel compelled to do the same. And if you’re not scared by steep learning curve in the process of perfecting your swing, definitely go for it. Long irons are very effective for golfers who know what they’re doing, and as much as we like to tell ourselves otherwise, most golfers are not that way. Most people are recreational golfers, which means that they’re amateurs and not professionals. Therefore, in my opinion, they should be aspiring to have most fun and not worry about achieving the highest score.

And that’s why beginner golfers and seniors should always go for hybrid golf clubs. They’re simply the best option available for people who don’t have time or energy necessary to perfect their game. Hybrids are designed in a way that makes them very easy to hit. One could even say, that they are ergonomically designed with beginner and senior golfers in mind.
